« les Français aussitôt qu'il rompirent coururent comme des fous, notre infanterie s'élançant à perdre haleine après eux, tout désorganisé pour éviter l'encerclement, et les escadrons de la cavalerie se déplaçant au milieu d'eux. Les Français se sont ralliés cependant et trois fois ont fait front sur des positions très fortes, mais notre artillerie arriva bientôt sur eux, et quand l'infanterie avança, ils coururent. »

 

« the French no sooner gave way than they ran like mad, our infantry running out of breath after them, all open to avoid the shells, and the squadrons of cavalry moving on in the midst of them. The French however rallied and three times made a stand upon very strong positions, but our artillery soon got at them, and when the infantry advanced they ran.»
